Whitburn Rotary is part of Rotary International
Rotary is a global network of 1.4 million neighbours, friends, leaders, and problem-solvers who see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change – across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.
Formed in 1984, Whitburn Rotary is one of five Rotary Clubs in West Lothian. The members are people of all ages, who are keen to utilise their skills and resources for the benefit of others in their community, in the UK and abroad.
Whitburn Rotary works on many exciting projects to help improve the lives of others, and we are very proud of the progress we continue to make. Key groups ensure that our work continues outside of the twice-monthly club meetings to make positive change, whilst encouraging fun and fellowship.
We are part of Rotary District 1320, which is Scotland South and comprises 93 Rotary Clubs serving their local, regional, national and international communities.
In Great Britain and Ireland there are over 1,500 Rotary Clubs. These are made up of people who volunteer their time and talent to tackle challenges at home and abroad in our cause areas, which include:
- promoting peace
- fighting disease
- providing clean water
- supporting education
- saving mothers and children
- growing local economies
- supporting the environment
The Rotary motto is “Service above Self”.
