Members of the Rotary Club of Whitburn were keen to support the sterling work of our NHS and in particular 3 departments at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary (ERI). Many of them had personally, or through family members, benefitted from the expertise, dedication and skills of staff in the Departments of Clinical Neurology (DCN), Orthopaedics and the Anne Rowling MS Clinic.
Three Club members, John Fisher (Snr), John Strang, Jonathan Moore and one friend, John Fisher (Jnr), participated in the recent Edinburgh Kilt Walk to support fund-raising activities. The superb sum of £5,000.00 was raised.
Representatives of Whitburn Rotary and leading staff of two the Infirmary’s departments (Mr Mark Hughes DCN and Dr Kate Murray MS Clinic) attended the cheque presentation ceremony at ERI, along, with Tumong Edwards (Community and Events Fundraiser/NHS Lothian Charity) to celebrate the transfer of funds.
Lead Kilt Walker John Fisher (Snr) said “The NHS plays such a vital role in the lives of everyone that it was a privilege to get involved in a fund-raiser for the Infirmary. It was great on the day to be involved with so many others, having fun and raising funds for charities. We expected to raise a few thousand Pounds but thanks to the generosity of our Club members and supporters, who clearly value the NHS, the fantastic sum of £5,000.00 was raised. Warm thanks to everyone who contributed to this great cause.”
